Of Erudition and Pomposity

"That's right," Cameron said. "I want to call those deniers out into the street at high noon and shoot it out with those boneheads."

And to whom was the legend-in-his-own-mind director James Cameron referring? Why, people who don’t subscribe to his group-think mentality and - gasp - disagree with his environmental activist propaganda masquerading as a movie of great importance.

"Anybody that is a global warming denier at this point in time has got their head so deeply up their a-- I'm not sure they could hear me."

Ah yes, those of us who believe science and rational thought rather than blowhards clearly are empty-headed ignorant idiots.

Of course he’s a monumental hypocrite.  The limousine-liberal mansion dweller that sees that what is good for everyone else is not good for him.

"Look, at this point I'm less interested in making money for the movie…”

Of course “the movie” in question is Avatar - that most militant of anti-military, anti-corporation, anti-everything films.  And in that quote he reveals his own hypocrisy. It is my understanding that the DVD release of Avatar will coincide with Earth Day.  For all that he wants to save the planet and be the environmental hero - there are no extras on this DVD release.

Which means in 2 years he can release another DVD as a 2-disc Premium Version. Then there will be the Director’s Cut. Then the Platinum release with deleted scenes and more hot air commentary. Each one delivering a substantial royalty check to the illustrious Cameron.

However Cameron reserves his special venom for Glenn Beck - the ultimate conservative lightning-rod:

"He's dangerous because his ideas are poisonous," Cameron answered. "I couldn't believe when he was on CNN. I thought, what happened to CNN? Who is this guy? Who is this madman? And then of course he wound up on Fox News, which is where he belongs, I guess."

See how that works?  Because Glenn Beck disagrees with Cameron, he is dangerous.  Or more precisely, in Cameron’s masterful use of the English language:

"Glenn Beck is a f------- a-------.

I know that most everyone in Hollyweird these days is a bunch of navel-gazers and narcissists of the worst kind.  The Jon Voights and Kelsey Grammers are few and far between unfortunately.

Cameron takes the cake from all of them, even the newly delusional Tom Hanks (well maybe not newly, but certainly more publicly).  His pomposity and self-importance - giving a press interview from a Hollywood Mansion - knows no limits. Yet his arrogance covers up the hypocrisy of the life he lives.

The great monstrosity and ode to capitalism and ego seen here is Cameron's house in Malibu, CA:

According to two online sources, our buddy James lives in an 8,272 square foot “cottage” in Malibu with 6 bedrooms and 7 baths,  complete with the requisite pool, tennis court and inner courtyard fit for Hollywood royalty.

In fact Hollyweird itself is recognized as one of the biggest environmental offenders of all:

According to research done by the University of California, the film and television industry is the largest polluters in the Los Angeles region. Mari-Jo Winkler, executive producer of Away We Go, admitted, “We are probably one of the most wasteful businesses.” Yet so many “stars” lecture the little people on how to live a “greener” lifestyle.

Cameron fancies himself the moral authority on the environment, some kind of champion for the planet. He has called himself an eco-terrorist.  Perhaps he should fire-bomb his own house first - as a show of good faith to those he lectures and slanders. Then he could move to the Hollyweird complex.

It would keep him off the streets for some time to come.

Of course all this could be due to the fact that the man is a pussy who lost an Oscar to his ex-wife.
