Last

Well here it is - the final evening of our stay-cation.  It has been - magical. We are rested, relaxed and renewed.

We didn't do much really.  As stated before, the week was book-ended with activities; the highlight certainly was the graduation of one of The Oracle's nephews.  That was yesterday and it was an amazing ceremony.  The speeches were terrific - hard to believe they were delivered by 17 and 18 year olds.  The graduate is a wonderful young man who is going to go very far in life. We are all so proud of him.

By far the highlight of the entire vacation was our trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to see the Dale Chihuly Exhibit.  I could go on and on about it - and I may later this week.

In the meantime the image at left is from the exhibit - called a Persian Ceiling (the name chosen for no other reason than it sounded exotic and mysterious).  Quite literally a ceiling of glass that filled a space approximately 24 feet by 12 feet.  Clear glass panels with a wild arrangement of bowls, platters and smaller shapes arranged - well, arranged in a seeming chaos at first. Then as you explore it, it's like looking up from under the sea at a vast coral reef and garden.

At least - that's what I saw.

I have more pictures of the fantastical objects and scenes we saw, including a video of a room-sized installation that couldn't be captured in any other way.

The Oracle bought me a book on Chihuly which I promptly devoured sitting in the beautiful sun on our back deck 2 days later.  As I suspected, the man is precisely how I imagined - unassuming, aware of his gifts with the appropriate amount of arrogance and ego for a man known all over the world yet with the right balance of humility.

More on Chihuly and his glass later this week.

In the meantime - w.o.r.k. tomorrow.

*sigh*
